DIDN’T READ, BUT CONDEMNED

May 2017, OkNo gallery, Chelyabinsk

Blind acceptance of other points of view deprives us the opportunity of clear perception of information. When we stop analyzing it by ourselves and doubting the veracity, we turn into a society of total concord which might turn into a society of totalitarian rule.
The piece of art is written with Braille script: “Didn’t read, but condemned.” The words refer to a trial of Boris Pasternak which has been initiated due to Doctor Zhivago’s publication in the West in the 50-s. The publication caused a massive public outcry in the soviet society.
